Istanbul-Izmir highway travel to 3,5 hour

Istanbul-Izmir road journey is reduced to 3,5 hours: The foot height of the Gulf Bridge, the most important crossing point of the Gebze Orhangazi Highway Project, which will reduce the Istanbul-Izmir road journey to 3,5 hours, reached 252 meters as planned by the end of the year.
With the new year, ropes will begin to be pulled on the bridge that will connect the two sides of Izmit Bay. If there is no delay in the program, the silhouette of the bridge will appear in May. It will be opened to vehicle traffic in December next year.
ROPES IN THE NEW YEAR
The Bay Bridge, which is the most sensitive crossing point of the Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Highway Project, is built between Dilburnu in Kocaeli's Dilovası District and Hersek capes of Yalova's Altınova District. As previously planned, the feet on both sides reached 252 meters by the end of the year. On the bridge, where the latest works have been carried out on the upper points of the legs, the pulling of the ropes that will connect the two sides will begin with the new year.
WILL BE TAKEN BY WALKING IN JUNE
As Lütfü Elvan, the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, who examined here a while ago, explained that if there is no unexpected setback in the program, the rope-pulling works on the bridge will be completed in February, and in May the concrete will be poured and the silhouette of the bridge will appear. It will be possible to walk across the bridge in June. However, the bridge will be opened to vehicle traffic in December 2015.
6 WILL GO TO THE opposite
When the Bay Bridge is completed, it will be the fourth largest suspension bridge in the world with a length of 2 meters. Thanks to the bridge, a vehicle that previously sailed the Izmit Bay in about an hour or crossed the ferry in 682 minutes, will cross in 45 minutes.
Gebze-Orhangazi İzmir Highway Project will continue from Bursa's Orhangazi and Gemlik vicinity along with the bridge and will be connected to the Ovaakça junction and Bursa Ring Road. The new highway starts again from the Bursa - Karacabey junction after the existing Bursa ring road and passes north of Susurluk and reaches Balıkesir. From here, the highway will pass near Savaştepe, Soma, Kırkağaç districts and run parallel to the İzmir - Uşak state road from Turgutlu. The highway project, which is 384 kilometers in length, also reaches a length of 43 kilometers with 427 kilometers of connection roads. When the whole project is completed, a vehicle leaving Istanbul will be able to go to Izmir in 7 hours, which is normally 3,5 hours. The bridge will also relieve the Istanbul-Izmit crossing of the TEM and D-100 Highway, which are intense, especially in the summer and during the holidays.
