Metro strike was postponed: Train drivers were protesting the closure of ticket offices in the London subway and the 48 hourly strike decision, planned for next week, was suspended. Two separate strikes took place in London subway this year, during the 48 hours in February and April. The reason for the strike is that Transport for London wants to close almost all of its ticket offices and assign employees to customer service. The machinists union RMT asserts that this will result in forced layoffs, but according to TfL executives, changes are being made within the framework of the modernization program and no employee will be forced out of work. According to the institution, electronic systems such as the metro and Oyster, only 3 of tickets are sold in the ticket offices.
