World War 1 Secret Railway Line Reconstruction

It will be revived with the support of the 62 km long TCDD, which was built to transport coal to the Silahtarağa Power Plant in order to prevent Istanbul from running out of electricity during the First World War.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality is starting investigation studies for the construction of the 62 km line. Within the scope of the studies to be supported by TCDD, the route studies of the approximately 62 km-long Golden Horn - Kemerburgaz - Black Sea Coast Rail System Project will be carried out, the station locations will be determined and zoning plans will be made. When the railway is completed, a nostalgic journey will be made to the Black Sea by passing through aqueducts, forest, city walls and villages on the 62-kilometer road.

COMBINED FOR COAL TRANSPORT IN WAR YEARS

Concrete steps are being taken for the construction of the Golden Horn-Black Sea Sahara Line, which was built to carry the coal extracted in Ağaçlı and Çiftalan villages on the Black Sea coast to the Silahtarağa Power Plant in order to prevent Istanbul without electricity during the First World War. The line, which became unusable in 1952, had to be reconstructed since 1999. The historical tramway, whose route has been re-determined with the works of TCDD, Metropolitan Municipality and Kağıthane Municipality, will be able to go from the Golden Horn to Karadeniz Ağaçlı. Approximately 7 kilometers of this line will be in the forest, and some of it will be on the original route that we now follow the road. This line will bring a new range and space to Istanbul's tourism. It will be an important historical and touristic line. When the railway is completed, a nostalgic journey will be made to the Black Sea, passing through aqueducts, forest, city walls and villages on the 43-kilometer road.

HISTORICAL BELTS AND BEAUTY

In the open-air museum of the Kağıthane Municipality, the tracks brought from the Odayeri location on the Ağaçlı route and the milestones on the Çiftalan route are exhibited. The new tram line, built close to the 3rd airport, will bring those who want to see the beauties of the Black Sea and Golden Horn to the center of Istanbul. There are important parts of the line outside the borders of Kağıthane. There will be around 10-15 stops. It will be a historical stop in the center of Kağıthane. We want to create attractive and interesting areas such as cherry gardens and zoos when standing in certain places in the forest. When the passenger gets on the Golden Horn, he will go to Ağaçlı. It will be a tourist and historical train.
