Environmentally friendly cable car project to the historical Sümela Monastery: A cable car of 3 meters consisting of 2 stations will be installed for easy access to the historical Sümela Monastery in the national park in Trabzon's Maçka district.

A cable car of 3 meters consisting of 2 stations will be built for easy access to the historical Sumela Monastery located in the national park in Trabzon's Maçka district, one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Eastern Black Sea.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Maçka Mayor Koray Koçhan said that with the cable car, a beautiful viewing area will be created at the Sumela Monastery and some transportation problems will be avoided.

Stating that they care about the ropeway project, Koçhan said, “We think that the project will add value to the brand value of the Sümela Monastery in the Eastern Black Sea Region. In addition to the cable car project, we also care about the Çakırgöl Ski Center project as it concerns the path of the Sümela Monastery. This project, which is very important for the region, continues ”.

Expressing that the 3- to 4-kilometer part of the Çakırgöl road is slightly below the last station of the Sümela cable car, Koçhan said, “This road is currently 6 meters wide. A vehicle coming and going to Sumela in summer cannot cover the 4-kilometer road in 3 and a half and 4 hours. The road is very narrow and not suitable. This situation causes difficulties for the tourists coming to Sümela in terms of traffic, ”he said.

Koçhan emphasized that the cable car project could reduce the time of 3 to 4 minutes of the 20 hour, and continued his words as follows:

“Some people have the opinion that too many trees will be cut down with the project and nature will be destroyed. I strongly disagree with this opinion. Our project is a preliminary project that is planned to consist of the beginning, middle and last stop. Since our project will pass through a high area, it will not cause any trees to be cut, it will be a very beautiful cruising track and will not disrupt the walking track of the monastery. The first station of the cable car will start from the left of the national parks car park where everyone enters by car, it will be the second station in the area where the social facilities are located, and returning from this station will be the third station in the cruise area at the top of Çakırgöl road. "

"The project will be implemented by the end of the year"

Pointing out that the parking lot problem will also be solved with the cable car to be built to Sümela Monastery, Koçhan said, “I think that our tourism potential will increase with the cable car. Because the cable car will prevent the loss of time and will provide easier access for tourists to the monastery. It will solve the traffic problem especially in the area where social facilities are located. Apart from that, in terms of loss of time, tourists preferred vehicles instead of walking tracks while going to the monastery. Thanks to the project, I am sure that the tourists will go to the monastery by cable car and walk down the hiking trail ”.

International 4 about the cable car project is looking for him, Koçhan said,

“As Maçka Municipality, we care about the ropeway project because it is important enough for both local and foreign tourists to travel in nature and to add value to Sümela's brand value. The ropeway project we have made is not a project that will cause a massacre of nature, but a project where high feet will be built. With the cable car of 2 meters, the Sumela Monastery can be watched very easily from the air. The cable car will add value to the brand value of the Sümela Monastery in terms of preventing loss of transportation and time. "

Koçhan pointed out that the project of the cable car project was completed and added that the project will be implemented by the end of the year.
