A new road is opening to the summit of Aladağ in Derbent district of Konya where ski lovers can easily access during the winter season.
In order for ski lovers to reach the summit of Aladağ in Derbent district, where the work is being carried out to make Konya a Winter Sports Center, a new road with a length of 8 kilometers is being built in order for ski lovers to reach the summit more easily in winter.
Derbent District Governor Arif Oltulu, District Mayor Hamdi Acar and Konya Metropolitan Municipality Directorate of Science Affairs Department Road Construction Maintenance Branch Manager Mustafa Arslan made an examination in Aladağ, where road works continue.
In his statement, Derbent Mayor Hamdi Acar stated that a new 8-kilometer road was started to be opened by Konya Metropolitan Municipality in order for ski lovers from Konya to reach Aladağ, where the work is underway to make Konya a Winter Sports Center, more easily in the winter period before the facilities are built. Acar said, "After this 8-kilometer road is opened, even before the facilities are built, our ski lovers in Konya will be able to come here and have the opportunity to ski in the winter months."
Stating that Aladağ has a potential suitable for skiing even in its current natural state, Mayor Acar said that there is a great interest in skiing in Konya, which is not a ski center. Explaining that the ski-loving families from Konya go to ski resorts in Kayseri, Bursa and Isparta because they do not have ski facilities in Konya, Acar said that after Konya has reached the ski facility, it will not be necessary to go too far for skiing. Emphasizing that it is a very suitable track that allows skiing at the summit of Aladağ, Acar said that the slope of the area varies between 20-35 percent, and that it provides ski lovers with the opportunity to ski sports even in this state. Acar stated that people sometimes come to Aladağ with their bags and sled sets to ski, and said that transportation here was a big problem in the past, and this problem will disappear with the completion of the new road. Acar stated that after the completion of the road, even before the facilities are built, ski lovers from Konya can ski by bringing their ski sets here, and those who want to learn skiing, even though they are skiing enthusiasts, can get ski training on this issue in the natural area here.
Stating that the training activities initiated by the Ski Federation Konya Provincial Office to bring new young people to ski sports in Konya have gained momentum recently, Acar said, “Our file that we prepared for Aladağ to be a tourism region is completed. "We will go to our Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu as a delegation and present this file to him, which includes the work done to declare the region a tourism region."
