Nazarbayev: Strengthen our international railway line relations

Nazarbayev: The international railway line will strengthen our relations. Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Rashid Meredov.

Speaking at the meeting, President Nazarbayev said that the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway line will further strengthen the relations of the three countries. “Our relations with Turkmenistan are developing both in the political and economic fields. We want to strengthen these relations from now on. The railway line project, starting from Kazakhstan, which is in the phase of completion, and extending to the Persian Gulf through Turkmenistan and Iran, is very important. " Speaking, Nazarbayev stated that with the end of the project, the commercial relations between the 3 countries will rise to a new level.

Turkmen Foreign Minister Meredov conveyed the greetings of Turkmenistan President Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov and gave information about the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway project. Minister Meredov noted that the relations between the two countries have developed successfully in many areas.

Nazarbayev and Meredov discussed bilateral relations as well as international issues of interest to countries.
The Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway project, the foundation of which was laid in 2007, has reached the completion stage. While the project is expected to be completed in the autumn, Kazakhstan President Nazarbayev is also expected to visit Turkmenistan during this period. The project, which will carry Central Asia to the Persian Gulf, will significantly relieve the cargo transportation of the countries in the region.
