Cargo transportation by rail from Mersin

“This period is a very reasonable time for us. Konya-Karaman-Mersin line is a very difficult line, not an easy line. They will cross the Taurus again. We also want this line to be accelerated with two lines. It is our main demand to carry people on this line during the day, to carry cargo on the same line from 12 am until the morning. The Konya-Karaman-Mersin railway line extends to Adana and the Southeast. If it enters Iraq, it will not only fly us but also these provinces. We load it on the truck from here, transport is in difficult conditions. ”

  • “Accelerated train project reduces transportation costs”

Ozturk emphasized that this project is of great importance for reducing the investment costs in Konya and the province where the line passes.

“For example, when we briefed the officials of a big company that wants to invest in Konya, the company officials stated that they consider the existing 100 km train line as a very important cost-reducing factor among their cost items. All companies take this into account in their investment accounts. The transportation of a truck load from Konya to Mersin Port is approximately 1.100-1.200 liras. This cost increases even more when we consider large quantities of export products. If we can quickly deliver the export product from Konya to Mersin by rail, we get 400-500 lira per container per truck. This is a big number. This strengthens our hand in terms of competition at home and abroad. ”

Ozturk, freight transport more risk-free and more measurable in terms of time they see as other important advantages, he said.

Saying that two railroads connected to Konya are on the agenda of the project, Öztürk said, “Our second request is the creation of the Antalya-Konya-Nevşehir-Kayseri tourism axis. This line is a very difficult line, very long tunnels are required. It is also difficult to determine the route. Especially since high speed trains exceed 250 kilometers per hour, you have to comply with certain standards in the curvature and slope of the turn. We want this line for high speed train. We don't want to carry a load on this line anyway. ”
