Every day 600 birds crash into the high-speed train and die: The high-speed train being built on the migration route of wild birds causes the death of around 600 migratory birds a day.
The road between YHT's Eskişehir-Ankara route is on the migration route of wild birds. For this reason, around 600 migratory birds die a day by hitting the train.
In the official statement made about the incident, TCDD stated that the YHT, which took the distance between Ankara and Eskişehir in 1 hour and 20 minutes, hit more bird flocks in the first years:
“This is starting to decrease now. Because the birds also got used to YHT and started to change their migration routes. However, flocks of birds migrating from time to time hit the YHT. Due to the flock of birds, YHT will not decrease its speed and will continue its voyages at a speed of 250 kilometers. Over time, birds will get used to YHT and completely change their migration route.
