The foundation of the new bridge was laid in 2012, with the attendance of Binali Yıldırım, the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, in the region, where transportation was provided with limited ferry services for years, in line with the public demand. The bridge was named "Nissibi", an old settlement in the region.
The construction of the bridge that will connect Şanlıurfa's Siverek and Adıyaman's Kahta districts is coming to an end. Most of the bridge, whose middle span is planned to be 400 meters, has been completed.
Nissib, followed by the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges the distinction of being the longest in Turkey.
Izzettin Governor of Sanliurfa, AA correspondent, said the bridge came to the stage of completion.

Describing the Nissibi Bridge as "a magnificent work", Küçük said:
“Trade and economic volume will increase among the provinces of the region. The social fabric integration of the cities and the region will also be faster. But more importantly, the tourism movement in the region will increase. This bridge is one of the great works of our state. Currently 87,5 percent complete. This means that our bridge will be opened by the end of the year. "
