It was stated that 5 people, including 40 serious injuries, were injured in the accident. It was reported that a total of 250 passengers were on the train.
It was stated that the locomotive part of the freight train from Duisburg city to Sopron city, Hungary and the first two wagons were derailed, and the containers on the train also fell to the ground.
Trains in the section where the accident occurred due to the slow course of a larger accident was said to have survived.
Mannheim main railway station was closed after the accident and a large number of rescue teams working at the scene were recorded.
