In a written statement made by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, it was stated that the Prime Minister and Presidential candidate Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave instructions to start the construction of the Antalya Meydan - Airport - Aksu - Expo rail system line.

In the statement, following the instructions of Prime Minister Erdogan, Transport Minister Lütfi Elvan was commissioned and the project will be ready for the opening of the EXPO to be held on April 23, 2016, the construction of the new 16-kilometer rail system line will be carried out by the Ministry of Transport, and the wagons will be provided by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. has been transferred.

In the statement, it was also reminded that Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Menderes Türel presented the preliminary studies to the approval of Prime Minister Erdoğan, together with the Minister of European Union and Chief Negotiator Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, EXPO Chairman of the Board and Minister of Agriculture Mehdi Eker.

The length of the light rail system that continues to operate in the city center is 11.1 kilometers.
