Süleyman Uğur Özkoç was sentenced to 1 year, 11 months and 10 days in prison, Özkoç's sentence was postponed.

Ebru Gültekin Ilıcalı's wife, complainant Sabri Akın Ilıcalı, pending defendant conductor Süleyman Uğur Özkoç and party lawyers attended the verdict hearing held at Anadolu 30th Criminal Court of First Instance. Speaking at the hearing, the lawyer of the Ilıcalı family, Abdullah Kaya, stated that his complaints about the defendants continued and demanded that they be punished. In the third expert report on the case, the defendant's lawyer Ramazan Atilla Çeltik, who referred to the fact that the conductor Özkoç was found to be at fault, demanded that they did not participate in the expert report and that the contradictions between the other reports should be resolved. The court stated that the expert report is not binding for the court, and that re-obtaining the expert report will prolong the case.

The public prosecutor, who presented his opinion at the hearing, said that the train, where one of the defendants Abdullah Çiğdem served as the mechanic and Süleyman Uğur Özkoç as the conductor, stopped at the Feneryolu station, after all passengers got on, Ebru Gültekin Ilıcalı put her 3-year-old child in the stroller first and she was going to get on. He stated that the wagon door was closed and the stroller was stuck in the door. Stating that Ilıcalı lost his balance and fell into the gap of the platform, the prosecutor demanded that engineer Abdullah Çiğdem be acquitted of the crime of "causing death by negligence" and that the conductor Süleyman Uğur Özkoç be punished for the crime of "causing death by negligence". The prosecutor also demanded that a criminal complaint be filed against TCDD officials to the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Speaking after the interview, the pending defendant conductor Süleyman Uğur Özkoç stated that he was obliged to inform the driver that the boarding was completed after the passenger boarding on the train was completed and said, “The driver has an obligation to control the platform at departure and on the move. The security guard who tried to get the deceased and the child on the train during the incident also had a fault. "I am perfect in the matter, I demand my acquittal." The defendant's lawyer, Ramazan Atilla Çeltik, said, "The victim, especially during the incident, went with the 30-40 meters train despite the constant excavation and did not release the stroller arm despite all warnings".

The court judge acquitted the accused mechanic Abdullah Çiğdem, stating that the crime of "causing death by negligence" did not occur due to the elements of the crime, and sentenced the conductor Süleyman Uğur Özkoç to 2 years and 4 months in prison before the crime of "causing death by negligence". Considering Özkoç's good conduct at the hearing, the court reduced the sentence to 1 year 11 months and 10 days and postponed it.

The court also ordered a criminal complaint to be filed with the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in order to evaluate whether to take action on this issue, since it was determined that TCDD officials or officials were found to be faulty during the prosecution phase, which was determined by expert reports that did not comply with national and international standards.

In the accident that took place on 11 July 2012, Ebru Gültekin Ilıcalı, who first put her 3-year-old son Ege on the train with the help of the security guard at the Feneryolu Train Station, and then stayed outside when the doors were closed while trying to get on the train with a baby carriage in her hand, fell into the gap between the platform and the train. lost. After the incident, a lawsuit was filed against the train driver Abdullah Çiğdem and the conductor Süleyman Uğur Özkoç on charges of 'causing death by negligence' with a sentence of 2 to 6 years in prison.
