When to Open Ankara-Istanbul YHT Line: Transport, Maritime and Communications Minister Lütfi Elvan stated that they are planning to open the Ankara-Istanbul High Speed Train (YHT) line on 11 July.

Minister Elvan said in a statement that all the work on the Ankara-Istanbul YHT line, which citizens are excitedly waiting for to open, was carried out with great care. In this context, Minister Elvan stated that all test drives were successfully completed on the line and said, "There is no obstacle to the opening of the Ankara-Istanbul YHT line, we plan to open the line as the 11th of this month." It was stated that according to the schedule of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the opening date may deviate 1-2 days.

The 533-kilometer Ankara-Eskişehir section of the 245-kilometer Ankara-Istanbul YHT line was put into service in 2009. After the line is fully operational, the travel time between the two cities will be reduced to 3,5 hours. On the Ankara-Istanbul YHT line, there will be 9 stops in total, Polatlı, Eskişehir, Bozüyük, Bilecik, Pamukova, Sapanca, İzmit, Gebze and Pendik.
