Contract Concerning the Supply of Driverless Train to Üsküdar Çekmeköy Line

Üsküdar Ümraniye Çekmeköy Line has signed a contract for the delivery of driverless trains: Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has officially announced that they have won the tender for supplying driverless trains to M5 metro line, which is under construction of Japan's Mitsubishi Company and Spain's CAF Company.

Trains will be put into service between Üsküdar (known as M5 Metro Line) and Ümraniye and Çekmeköy on the Anatolian side of the city. The line is 19.7 km long and has 16 stations. The journey time between two end stations will be 27 minutes. The line also offers the possibility to transfer to Marmaray in Üsküdar.

According to the signed contract, CAF will produce vehicles and Mitsubish Corporation will supply electrical equipment including automation system. This automation system will be put into service for the first time in Turkey. Deliveries are planned to be made between 2016 and 2017.
