Gulf Crossing Bridge Target 2015: Construction of the İzmit Bay Crossing Bridge, which is being built within the scope of Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Motorway, continues at full speed.
The construction works of Izmit Bay Crossing Bridge, which started to be built within the scope of Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway, which will reduce the distance between Istanbul and Izmir to 3 hours, continues at full speed. The caisson legs of the Izmit Bay Crossing Bridge, which will be the fourth largest suspension bridge in the world with a total middle span of 550 meters and a length of 2 meters, are rising rapidly. In the written statement made by the General Directorate of Highways, it was stated that the construction of the bridge piers will be completed at the end of 682, while the Gebze - Gemlik section and the Kemalpaşa junction - İzmit section of the highway will be completed by the end of 40, together with the İzmit Bay Crossing Bridge, which is within the scope of Gebze - Orhangazi - İzmir Highway. When Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Highway, which is tendered by the General Directorate with the Build-Operate-Transfer model, will have a total length of 2014 kilometers, including the connection roads. Within the scope of the project, 2015 and a half billion dollars worth of work has been completed by the contractor firm so far, while 433 billion 1 million TL has been spent by the General Directorate of Highways for expropriation works. Within the scope of the highway construction, a total of 1 thousand 310 personnel and one thousand 4 construction machines are working.
