The debate on the favorable appointment in Germany: The claim that Ronald Pofalla, the former state minister in charge of the prime ministry in Germany, will work in the railway company DB has caused controversy.
Ronald Pofalla, who is known among the names close to Chancellor Angela Merkel in the German public, was worn out due to the global espionage scandal. Pofalla, who was responsible for the intelligence agencies during his tenure, announced last December that he left politics for family reasons.
The fact that Pofalla will be assigned to the management of German Railways Enterprise Deutsche Bahn (DB) came to the agenda at the beginning of this year, and the Supervisory Board decided to give the former politicians a 12-month waiting period before being assigned to the group.
Rüdiger Grube, Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Bahn (DB), Deutsche Bahn, German Railways, announced that “The Supervisory Board, which will meet on Wednesday, will discuss the issue of Pofalla”.
According to the allegations reflected in the media, Pofalla, who will start work at the WB on January 1, 2015, will be responsible for the development of political, economic and international relations.
The reaction of the opposition
Green Party Bundestag Group President Anton Hofreiter described the possibility of assigning a post to Pofalla in the DB with the words "almost corruption". “Pofalla is being rewarded for the decisions he made for the benefit of the WB and its administration during his ministry,” Hofreiter said.
Asking for legal regulations to be made for former politicians who will work in the public and private sector, Hofreiter said, "Especially those coming from the ranks of power should have a waiting period of at least 3 years."
Sabine Leidig, the transportation expert of the Left Party, also harshly criticized the appointment of Pofalla to the DB top management. Leidig assessed the possible task to be given to Pofalla with the phrase "a brazen act of political pollution".
