Completely silicon power module in testing phase

The fully silicon power module is in the testing phase: Japan Mitsubish Electric Corp. has fully developed a silicon carbide drawer drive. The new inverter has been ordered by Odakyu Electric Railway for use in 1500V DC overhead line supply systems.

The new series is planned to be mounted on the EMCs with 1000 four-vehicle urban. The new power module is expected to significantly reduce energy consumption, with four high-efficiency engines to be used, except for a reduction in size and weight of 80. Compared to the standard 1000 EMU drawframe package, it is envisaged that the new power module will provide an energy saving of approximately% 36 under high load and% 20 at normal charge.
