Opening of Ankara-Istanbul Yht Line Postponed to June: The Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications stated that while test drives and certification processes are continuing on the Ankara-Istanbul High Speed Train (YHT) line, which is planned to open at the end of May, some sabotage has occurred, He stated that the opening of the line was postponed to June in order to avoid disruption.
In a written statement from the Ministry, the Ankara-Istanbul High Speed Train Project was stated to be the end of the construction work, and it was announced that the line was planned to be opened in late May. On the other hand, a number of sabotages occurred during the test and certification processes of the line, and the following were recorded:
“In the last few weeks, approximately 60 signaling and communication cables and 200 rail circuit connection systems have been cut at 70 points. Cutting cable and rail connection circuits directly affected the testing and certification process. For this reason, the opening of the line was postponed to June in order to avoid any malfunction. Necessary studies are carried out to eliminate the damage that has occurred.
These works have gone beyond simple theft events and have become a systematic sabotage. Regarding the perpetrators of the incidents, the relevant Governorships were mobilized, the prosecutor's office was responsible for the crime, the gendarmerie and the police initiated the necessary investigation. These sabotages are considered to be a betrayal to 77 million people who have been waiting for this project for years.
