3 billion dollar loan for Ethiopia-Djibouti railway project

3 billion dollars credit for the Ethiopia-Djibouti railway project: Chinese Prime Minister Li Kıçiang, who paid an official visit to Ethiopia, was accepted by President Mulatu Teshome.

According to a written statement from the Ethiopian Presidency, Chinese Prime Minister Li said during his meeting that his country would give Ethiopia a $ 3 billion loan to complete the railway project between Ethiopia and Djibouti.

Prime Minister Li said his country would give 300 million yuan (about 50 million dollars) to the Ethiopian government to support development efforts. Li, 300 million yuan to be donated, 3 billion dollars will be given in the form of interest-free credit passed.

Stating that he is satisfied with the developments he observed in Ethiopia, Li said that his country will work to increase financial support for Ethiopia.

Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome said, “China is the partner of development in Ethiopia. Relations between the two countries are historical relations based on respect and mutual benefit. China provides great support to infrastructure projects such as highway, railway and dam construction in Ethiopia ”.

Teshome emphasized that their relations with China turned into a strategic partnership, and expressed their wish for further development.

Chinese Prime Minister Li, who came to Ethiopia on Sunday as part of his African tour, is expected to leave Nigeria, Angola and Kenya tonight.
