Aksaray Railway to Open to Mersin Port

Aksaray Will Be Opened to Mersin Port by Railway: The Aksaray industry, which has grown thanks to the incentives in recent years, will be connected to Mersin Port by rail with the introduction of the "Kırşehir-Aksaray-Ulukışla Railway Project".

Aksaray Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ) has become a center of attraction for investors as it is located in the 5th incentive zone. Turkey's east-west, south-junction located in the province of highways extending to the northern direction, draws attention to important industrial investments made in recent years.

With the completion of the "Kırşehir-Aksaray-Ulkışla Railway Project", which is expected to be tender this year from Aksaray, which was not connected to the railways network before, it is aimed to transport industrial products to many regions of the world, especially the Middle East, at lower costs.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Aksaray Governor Şeref Ataklı said that the industry has gained momentum with incentives in the OIZ and that important companies have decided to invest in the province.
Railway tender stage

Stating that there is a need for the products produced in the OIZ to reach the nearest ports, Ataklı said, “The transportation and distribution of the produced products is very important. A railway project from Aksaray to Mersin Port was on the agenda. Studies are continuing. Survey studies have now been completed. The tender stage has been reached. We expect this tender to be held as soon as possible, ”he said.

Ataklı pointed out that at the moment industrial products were transported by road, he said:

“There is a big difference between the costs of road transportation and the cost of rail transportation. Freight transport by rail is much cheaper. By train, you can transport large quantities of goods to the center you want more easily and cost-effectively. This constitutes an important advantage for investors and producers. I think the railway project had an impact on the decision of many large industrial companies, especially Brisa, to invest in Aksaray. "

Stating that the project is mostly aimed at freight transportation, Ataklı said, “This is our urgent need. There is also a high-speed train project from Antalya to Kayseri. Their preparations continue. The high-speed train also passes through Aksaray. "With the realization of this project, Aksaray will have an important advantage in terms of tourism."
