- Road Traffic Safety Symposium and Exhibition: Interior Minister Efkan Ala said, “Accident statistics show that we are successful in this area. However, when it comes to human life, statistics do not mean much. "No matter how small you reduce it, if there is death, you have a lot of work to do," he said.
Ala started his speech at the opening of the 5th Road Traffic Safety Symposium and Exhibition organized by the General Directorate of Security at the ATO Congress Center, wishing mercy to those who lost their lives in the disaster in Soma and patience to their families. “During the AK Party governments, the achievements in transportation infrastructure, divided roads, increased transportation in the airline, high-speed train projects and our interest in the sea route have significantly reduced the accidents. Turkey continues its development initiative in the field of transport. Accident statistics show that we are successful in this area. However, when it comes to human life, statistics do not mean much. No matter how small you reduce it, if there is death, you have a lot of work to do. We are holding this meeting not on the achievements we have achieved, but on the achievements we have to achieve. "
Addressing the scientists participating in the symposium, Ala said, “People who are committed to this work, you have knowledge and experience. We also have willpower. We consider the projects you will put forward as opportunities presented to us. Because the nation worked hard on you and us. Our authority gave you the opportunity to obtain information at universities. "Then we should all bring together what is in ourselves and serve the nation," he said.
