Batumi-Kazakhstan Railway Line Opens Today

Batumi-Kazakhstan Railway Line Opens Today: For the Batumi-Almaty / Kazakhstan railway line, which will be officially inaugurated in Batumi on February 1, 2014 by completing the infrastructure of Georgia… Batum-Kazakhstan railway line will be officially opened in Batumi on February 1, 2014 by completing the infrastructure of Georgia. An introductory meeting was held in Trabzon for the Almaty / Kazakhstan railway line.
Trabzon Mercantile Exchange Meeting Hall in the meeting held by the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union (DKİB) Chairman Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Trabzon Port Operations Manager Muzaffet Ermiş, Georgia Consul General in Trabzon Paata Kalandadze and Georgia Railways official Rusudan Gogisvanidze attended.
In his speech, Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union (ODİB), said that the railway's extension from Batumi to Kazakhstan and even to China is important.
Gürdoğan said that this railway line, which we believe will make a significant contribution to our foreign trade for the 'Central Asia Region', will extend from Batumi to Kazakhstan and even to China. Within the framework of the importance we attach to the creation of alternative and new routes in our exports and in parallel with the work we have done on this subject, it is a very important development for us that it will be reached at a lower cost than other transportation systems from our Eastern Black Sea Region to Kazakhstan by rail, even below half the price. This is also a confirmation of how right we are in our idea of bringing the Eastern Black Sea Region to the railroad with Hopa-Batumi railway connection through Georgia, which we have been consensus of for years and which we have insisted on, and which we have expressed on every side. In the initiatives we have made since 1998, we have insisted that the connection of our Region to the railway network in terms of our international trade should be provided with the Hopa-Batum Railway connection of 20 km, since the Ministry of Transport has reports that this line is feasible. However, people who have not been able to comprehend the importance of the issue since that day, have brought up the lines that would not have any contribution since they do not have international connections to our country and our region in order to confuse and divert the target. The railway projects, which were almost a dream, were tried to be launched for our region and the connection of our region to the railway network was prevented in a short time. If this connection had been provided, one end of the Batumi-Central Asia railway line, which our dear Georgian friends are promoting here today, would have started from our region.
BATUM-HOPA RAILWAY PROJECT MUST BE REALIZED
Stating that together with the Batumi-Almaty / Kazakhstan railway line, exports in the country can benefit from this line, Gürdoğan said, 'As you all know, the most convenient and preferable transportation system in terms of time losses on routes with high transit passes in international trade transportation and the total costs is the railway. Therefore, this railway line, activated by Georgia, will make a significant contribution to our foreign trade and will emerge as a new alternative route to the Central Asian Region. Exporters in our country and in our region will have the opportunity to ship their cargoes to Batumi by road or sea from here by rail wagons or containers to the Central Asian Region or even to China, or imported products will be unloaded from the same route to Batumi by rail, It will be brought to our country. In other words, this system will make a great contribution to the highway transportation in our region, and it will make a significant contribution to the more active ports in our region, that is to provide the cargo potential for both segments. In addition, the active use of the Batumi-Central Asia railway line and the Kars-Tbilisi line in the near future will bring awareness to our region and reveal the necessity of re-establishing the Hopa-Batum railway connection, and will please us as the advocates of this idea and in this regard. We request the necessary work to start as soon as possible, 'he said.
TRABZON WILL BE GRAND IMPORTANT
Paata Kalandadze, Consul General of Georgia to Trabzon, noted that Trabzon will gain a great importance together with the Batumi-Almaty / Kazakhstan railway line. Kalandadze, 'It will be an important project for joint work. This project will contribute to Trabzon. The official opening will take place on February 1. This project, Turkey and Georgia will become one of the projects for joint action. These unions, our joint work will be a good example, "he said.
Rusudan official from the Georgian Railways Gogisvanidz, Turkey and Georgia could be expressed more strongly with cooperation, 'Cargo and container transport directly depends on me. As an infrastructure, we have the infrastructure not only in Georgia but all over the world. We have wagons in the container terminal in Romania, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan where we can transport our own containers. I believe that we can be stronger with Turkish cooperation, "he said.
On the other hand, the members of the press at the meeting `Turkey Hopa-Batumi line to do the feasibility study for but Georgia on the question of the shape Georgia's it hot bakmadığı' Trabzon Consul General Paata Kalandadze, he said that the two countries' transport ministers need to be in to come and cooperate together.
