Işık, who participated in the promotion ceremony of the Tram Project, which will be implemented between Sekapark and Izmit Intercity Bus Terminal with the cooperation of Kocaeli Metropolitan and Izmit municipalities, said to the journalists that they do not want to import the rail systems.
Saying, “We care more about the domestic production of rail systems,” Işık said, “As the minister of industry, we know the importance and importance of this work, and we have taken important steps to support domestic production. One of these is the preference of domestic products for up to 15 percent of the price difference in high-tech products in public procurement. Hopefully, Kocaeli Metropolitan and İzmit Municipality will prefer local products while doing these works, our country will gain employment, and our people will use the goods they produce. The light then participated in the virtual vote to determine the model, color and name of the tram to be used.
After the vote, Kocaeli Governor Ercan Topaca, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu, İzmit Mayor Nevzat Doğan, Ak Party Provincial Chairman Mahmut Civelek and citizens were informed by touring the tram in Izmit Anıt Park.
Following the evaluation of the bids in the tram tender held by the Metropolitan Municipality, the work is planned to be completed in 180 days.
The 6,5-kilometer-long tram line includes the Izmit Train Station-Central Bank and the Intercity Bus Terminal.
