A century-old building will be the Museum of Railroad and Officers: The historical building built in 1872 in Uzunköprü district of Edirne will be served as the Museum of Railway and Officers after it has been restored.
The two-storey historical building, which was built as a PTT building by the French in Uzunköprü district of Edirne, will serve as the Museum of Railway and Officers after being restored in accordance with its texture.
The building, restitution and restoration projects of the historical building serving as a PTT building in Uzunköprü Demirtaş neighborhood were prepared by the Uzunköprü District Governor and sent to the Thrace Development Agency. 161 thousand 526.75 TL of the cost of the restoration Thrace Development Agency, 53 thousand 842.46 TL is paid by the Co-Financing of Edirne Special Provincial Administration and the Railway and Officers Museum is expected to be completed in May of 2015 year.
Ilker Tekel, Director of Uzunköprü District Special Administration, said, “We are planning to start the museum in May 2015 by completing the fast-moving museum works and exhibition units by stating that the work of the Uzunköprü Railway and Officers Museum has started and continues meticulously. We will present the differences to the visitors who come to our museum with the modern museum format. ”
