Istanbul rail system period begins

The rail system era begins in Istanbul: Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Topbaş said, “Now the rail system era is beginning. "There will be no district in Istanbul where the subway does not enter."

Speaking at the rail system investments information meeting in Istanbul, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Kadir Topbaş said that they will present projects related to the transportation-related metro lines, which is the most important problem of the city.

Stating that there is a 800-kilometer merto network in New York, Topbaş said, “At the end of the program scheduled after 2019, Istanbul will be the second city in the world with the largest metro network after New York. This is not a dream. We implemented the project step by step, ”he said.

Everyone will reach the metro within walking distance

Topbas, 50-70 thousand people per hour by metro, said:

“Almost everyone will reach the subway within walking distance from now on. These are not dreams, but projects. There will be no districts in Istanbul where the metro does not enter. We knit everywhere with iron nets. The technological development of our metro networks is the most advanced in the world. The subways we have built recently can be used without a driver. You set up the system, the vehicle stops at the station without its user, it moves… Now we can say this in Istanbul; sits on the transport rail. The rail system era is now beginning. The period of individual driving will end. While 1.5 people can be transported in an average car, you can carry 50 thousand people per hour in the subway.

Saying that there was a 45-kilometer metro network in the city when they took office, Topbaş said, “2016 will be a turning point in the city. 7 million people will use the subway a day. In 2019, 11 million people will have the opportunity to use the metro in Istanbul. 2019 is actually our peak period. When we put forward the next projects, when it reaches 775 kilometers, it will have the feature of being the city envied by the world, without transportation problems, where everyone can live with pleasure ”.

Topbaş answering questions from members of the press after the meeting, as of 2019 length of the lines of the metro network will find the length of the 400 kilometers, he said.
