New cabins of Balçova cable car line in rainbow colors

The new cabins of the Balçova ropeway line are in rainbow colors: Izmir Metropolitan Municipality started construction and installation works after the demolition and cleaning of the new ropeway facilities in Balçova. Following a challenging process, the Municipality completed the project and construction tender and prepared the implementation projects, and began removing the poles and ropes at the old ropeway facilities. At the end of last June, the Metropolitan Municipality signed the application projects to the Directorate of Forestry Regional Directorate for approval and the construction of the new ropeway started with the approval.

The Balçova Cable Car Facilities, which have been redesigned in accordance with EU standards and will carry 1200 passengers per hour, will be completely renewed and offered to the service of Izmir residents in a much safer and more modern way. The journey time will be 8 minutes and 2 seconds in the 42-person cabins, each designed to be in a rainbow color. The new facility, which will be put into operation at a cost of 12 million 65 thousand 500 TL, is planned to start serving in the first months of next year.
