When to start Malatya High Speed Train Project

When the Malatya High Speed Train Project will start: In the parliamentary question given to the Turkish Grand National Assembly, asking the CHP to be answered in writing by the Minister of Transport, Binali Yıldırım, he asked Malatya when the High Speed Train Project will start.

CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba asked when the High Speed Train Project in Malatya will be started in the parliamentary question he gave to the Turkish Grand National Assembly, requesting that it be answered in writing by the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Binali Yıldırım.

In the parliamentary question given by CHP Deputy Ağbaba upon the request of the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications to be answered in writing by Binali Yıldırım, “It was announced by your Ministry that 5 cities will be connected to each other via the High Speed Train Line in the next 14 years. Although its infrastructure and geographical location are very suitable among the mentioned provinces, Malatya is not available. However, one of our AKP deputies stated in February that Malatya was included in the "high-speed train project" investment program, but that they did not wish to remain in the final target date of 2023, and that they had been informed that the necessary feasibility studies would be initiated in 2013. The promise made in February was shelved in August and it was announced that the high-speed train to Malatya would only come in 2023.

Malatya-Elazığ-Diyarbakır High Speed Line project is impatiently awaited in the provinces of the region. The population of Malatya is 762 thousand 366, the population of Elazig is 562 thousand 703, and the population of Diyarbakır is 1 million 162 thousand 167. The total population of these 3 provinces in the east of Sivas where high-speed trains are requested is 2 million 917 thousand people. However, it was announced by the Ministry of Transport that the high-speed train would not be taken to these provinces, but to Erzincan, which has a population of 217 after Sivas ”.

In his motion, Ağbaba asked the following questions:

“1- It is stated by the experts of the subject that the Kayseri-Malatya high-speed train line will be more efficient instead of the Sivas-Malatya high-speed train line project. Ankara-Kayseri-Malatya high-speed train line will provide a great development for the East and Southeast. Is it planned to construct a new line between Kayseri and Malatya without waiting for 2023 and to contribute to the development of the region? 2-Which criteria are taken into consideration for the provinces where high-speed trains will pass in the next 5 years? What are the features that distinguish 14 provinces from other provinces? 3- What values have been taken into consideration in the transfer of high speed trains to Erzincan, which has a population of half of Elazig, 3/1 of Malatya, and one of 6 of Diyarbakır? Is there any effect of being the 'hometown of the Minister of Transport' in taking high speed trains to this city? 4- Why Erzurum, which is Erzincan's neighbor, is not included in the project? Isn't it thought that a metropolitan city will have a higher train passenger capacity? Are there any complaints about such practices that cause criticism of "not using public resources efficiently" among the public? 5- High speed train sets were established in Sakarya, High Speed Train Scissors Factory in Çankırı, Travers Factory in Sivas, rail fasteners in Erzincan. While the investments made by your Ministry for the railways continue, the Wagon Repair Factory, which was kept idle for many years in Malatya, was first wanted to be built as a prison, then it was dismantled and sold by the PA. On the one hand, while there is a factory that is kept idle, on the other hand, how is it evaluated by your Ministry to open a factory by spending millions of liras of the same quality?
