The first rails of the 850-kilometer Atamurat-Imamnazar-Akina-Andhoi railway were laid at the ceremony near the city of Atamurat, the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat.

After the speeches, the heads of three countries put the first mortar on the railway construction. Turkmen railways placed the first rails of the Atamurat-Imamnazar line of the 85 kilometer. Turkmenistan will make the construction of the 3 kilometer railway from Imamnazar station to Akina station in Afghanistan. The Akina - Andhoi line of the 35 kilometer will be constructed by Afghanistan.

The final stage of the project, which is related to the Tajikistan line was not made any explanation.

A memorandum between Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan was signed last March on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway project.
