Efforts to Establish a Logistics Center in Kütahya Continue

Work to Establish a Logistics Center in Kütahya Continues: AK Party Kütahya Deputy Vural Kavuncu stated that the Logistics Center to be established is of great importance in the economic development of Kütahya, and the use of rail transportation will provide a great advantage in terms of industrial products to have a say in global competition.

Kavuncu made a statement about the Logistics Center and noted that the importance of the Logistics Center increased with the rapid completion of the provincial highways to high standards, the Zafer Airport was put into use and new investments came to organized industries. Recalling that the applications made to the General Directorate of Turkish State Railways previously resulted negatively on the grounds that the total load capacity was low, Kavuncu said, “Upon this, we visited our TCDD General Manager Süleyman Karaman in his office and conveyed the issue. Our General Manager also instructed Mr. İbrahim Çelik, Head of Freight Department, to rework the issue. Since then, technical delegations came to Kütahya and made evaluations. In the meetings we held afterwards, it was decided that the connection line (the railway connection line to be drawn from the main railway to the logistics center) and the establishment of a Logistics Center by TCDD, provided that the expropriation and other infrastructure investments are made with local dynamics and some zoning arrangements are made in Kütahya Alayunt. In line with these developments, an entrepreneurial company was established as the addressee of the subject, 46 percent of Kütahya Municipality and Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and our OIZs and Transporters and Truckers cooperatives in Kütahya and its districts in equal shares. . A new development work has been carried out by the municipal council and has been made in accordance with the legislation. Currently, a survey is being conducted by our Chamber of Commerce and Industry with nearly 100 industrialists regarding the amount of cargoes to and from the logistics center. When these studies are completed, we will apply to TCDD General Directorate for the establishment of the center. I would like to express my gratitude to all institutions and organizations that contributed to these works, as well as to the press and the public who kept the issue on the agenda and discussed, and I wish good and positive results ”.
