The Persian Gulf Connects to Central Asia by Rail: The first phase of the North-South Railway Project, which will connect Central Asia to the Persian Gulf, will open with the participation of Turkmenistan President Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov and Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 11 in the Serhatyaka resort on the border between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. Turkmen leader Berdimuhamedov, who will visit Astana on 10-11 May, will attend the opening ceremony at the border with his Kazakh counterpart Nazarbayev.
The project, which started at the end of 2007 year, first completed the 146 kilometer in Kazakhstan.
The largest part of the total 930 kilometer is 700 kilometers and within the borders of Turkmenistan, Nata Holding subsidiary Net Yapı has also contributed to the completion of the project.
The Turkish company, which built the Bereket and Serhetyaka train stations, also completed the approximately 30 kilometer railway line and undertook the signaling and energy transmission lines of the project. Within the scope of the project, a hotel, accommodation facility and housing were built at 12.
The final stage of the 90 kilometer in Iran is expected to be completed in 2014.
With the launch of the project, 600 will shorten the way for the countries that have opened the line bay.
