Russia meets high-speed train
It was decided that the first high-speed railway line of Russia would be laid between Moscow-Kazan and Moscow-Adler. With the project, which is scheduled to be completed by 2018, the 11,5-hour between Moscow and Kazan will now go down to the 3,5 hour.


Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting in the coastal city of Sochi on the development of high-speed train transportation in the country. At the meeting, it was decided to lay Russia's first high-speed railroad between Moscow-Kazan and Moscow-Adler. With the project planned to be completed by 2018, the 11,5-hour between Moscow and Kazan will be reduced to 3,5 hours.

Russian leader Putin said that high-speed rail lines should be used to calculate the pros and cons of potential investors and to create a clear financial scheme for the projects. The Russian president added that appropriate ticket prices should be created for the public.

According to Vladimir Yakunin, head of Russian Railways, the high-speed railroad project will cost around $ 1 billion. The contribution of the government to the project is determined as 30 billion dollars. Yakunin said the project would require around $ 21 billion dollars in government aid to keep the ticket prices cheaper during the operation phase.

According to preliminary evaluations, the prices of high-speed train tickets can range from 25 to 250 dollars.
