Russia, a vast rail network from the Soviet Union, continues to invest in rail transport. President Putin has ordered the speeding of high-speed train projects. According to the news of the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda, the launch of high-speed trains between Moscow-Kazan and Moscow-Rostov is on the agenda.

It is stated that the high speed train service between Moscow and Kazan will reduce the travel time between these two cities from 11,5 to 3,5 hours by train.

In Russia, there are high-speed trains between Moscow-St. Petersburg, Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg-Helsinki.

Putin said that high speed trains are a serious necessity and that ticket prices should be kept as low as possible.
