General Manager of Highways Cahit Turhan told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the groundbreaking ceremony of the "Odayeri-Paşaköy Section of the Northern Marmara Motorway Project", which includes the construction of the 3rd bridge to be built on the Bosphorus, will be held on May 29th.
Stating that the joint venture group that won the tender agreed with the Koreans, Turhan said, “3. They made an agreement with the Korean firm Hyundai and SK, including the upper part of the bridge, namely towers, decks, cables and suspension ropes. Koreans are currently working on the construction site. The firm has completed the excavation of the foundations. "When the foundation level reaches the ground level, concrete works with slip formwork and concrete pouring of other parts of the bridge will begin," he said.

Turhan stated that the bridge will be built as a single deck with a span of 3 meters on the 408rd bridge, where the latest technology in the world will be used, and the bridge will be reinforced with both suspended and curved cables, “While the suspension ropes carry the bridge's deck, the rigidity of the deck will be reinforced with inclined cables. It will be ensured that there is no deformation under load. "Balance will be achieved between the loads coming from the deck and the loads will be transferred to the main tower," he said.
Will connect London and Beijing
Explaining that Marmaray, which will be put into service on October 29, will connect “London and Beijing”, Turhan said, “There will be very heavy traffic on the Marmaray line. For this reason, if the international freight and passenger transportation on Marmaray is shifted to my rail site that will pass over the 2015rd bridge, which is planned to be put into service in 3, the 3rd bridge will connect London and Beijing, ”he said.
