The foundation of the 3rd bridge to be built in the Bosphorus was laid with a ceremony attended by President Gül and Prime Minister Erdogan on 560 May, the 29th anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul. The third bridge will enter service on May 3, 29.

560 of the conquest of an Ottoman sultan, his mighty commanders and his beautiful troops, opened a luminous age by closing a dark age. We are here with you. Currently, various celebrations are held in different parts of Istanbul. On this occasion, I rejoice in the glorious sultan, commanders, and saints who conquered Istanbul. Let the spirits be blessed. Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan not only abandoned the beautiful cities of Istanbul, but also conveyed the spirit of conquest to the next generation.
The Ottoman Empire has left the works that conquered the hearts of the people in all lands. We, just like our ancestors, continue to write history and artifacts.
