The first mortar was poured in the renovation of the Balçova Cable Car Facilities, which is among the symbols of the city and was closed in 2007 due to 'security risk'.

The first step of the project, which will restore Izmir residents to the Teleferik Facilities in Balçova, one of the symbols of the city, was finally taken. The Metropolitan Municipality laid the foundation yesterday for the construction of the new cable car facility, which was closed in 2007 due to the 'danger of life safety'. 200 million lira will be spent for the construction of the ropeway facility, which is stated to be completed in a year and can transport 12 people per hour. Mayor Kocaoğlu, mayors and members of parliament attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Balçova Cable Car Facility.

In his speech at the ceremony, Mayor Kocaoğlu said that the request for cancellation of the tender was unacceptable, asking all parties to support the fight against the subcontractor. Kocaoğlu said, “All unions and NGOs should work to eliminate subcontracting. Parliament should abolish subcontracting. This must be our real struggle. The chairmen of the unions come out and say, 'we don't let the workers be thrown'. The law is clear. I take no shelter anywhere. Turkey in 2009 in sub-contracting eradicate the mayor, institutions, '650 workers of give and take, "he does not need to be made in the proposal. Our hearts are already burning. We know our job and do the right politics. If İZELMAN company cannot win in the judiciary, we have to part with 650 workers. As the municipality, we almost reached the point where we could hold an office in the courthouse corridors and we were acquitted. It is not right to burden such a municipality, such a bureaucracy. The municipality, which has proven to the whole world that it works in accordance with the rules, is said to 'cancel the tender'. I reject this. The important thing is the formal arrangement. The important thing is that subcontracting ends ”.

Stating that some government deputies answered him after their Saturday speeches, Kocaoğlu said, “It is said that he doesn't even hammer a nail into the city. In the last 6 months, we brought 516 million lira of investment and service to İzmir. Some deputies should make an effort for Izmir in the Parliament instead of giving me words after every statement I make. For example, we ask them to remove the incentive imbalance between us and other provinces ”.

Kocaoğlu, addressing the ruling lawmakers, said, “We expect the Solid Waste Disposal Facility to be a unifier to solve the problem of location. We expect them to lobby in Ankara for the demand for exploration increase, which is our most natural right for the Izmir metro. "We hope that the files of the tram project will come off the dusty shelves of the capital."

Stating that they had problems during the tender process of the Cable Car Facility, Kocaoğlu said, “We did not participate in our project tenders. The project designer could not enter the construction tender. The obstacle was then fixed. Since everyone wanted to participate in the construction tender, they did not participate in the project tender. We could not do the project either. After that, the tender was canceled three times. There have been processes in the Public Procurement Authority. We said 'patience, no strength, get late'. Our run is jogging. "We continue on our way despite the obstacles." Balçova Mayor Mehmet Ali Çalkaya thanked Mayor Kocaoğlu for laying the foundations of the Cable Car Facilities.
