Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Line to go up to Kars
"Kars will be the junction point of the line that will go to China from now on," said the governor Eyüp Tepe regarding the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line.
In a statement to the correspondent of Tepe AA, BTK said that the city will gain the “junction point” identity thanks to the railway line.
Emphasizing that this situation will be reflected on Kars' economy and trade, Tepe said, “The things that used to be dreams come true. This line, which has been dragged on for years, has gained momentum in recent years. It was tendered in 2008 and today there is a physical realization of the order of 40-50 percent. This rate would be higher if the second stage was not contested. ”
Pointing out that Turkey is a serious problem in the line section Hill, he said:
"There are 2,5 kilometer tunnel project between Georgia and Turkey. A route has been changed in that project. Therefore, a new tunnel was brought to the agenda. When these are over, I hope that a trial expedition can be made at the end of the year. Trials like March and April will begin next year at the latest. Our hope is in that direction. Kars will be the junction point of the line going to China from now on.
