Railway Workers Protest New Draft Law
Liberalization of the Draft Law on Railway Transport of Turkey, was protested by railway workers in Adana.
Turkish Transportation-You Adana Branch member railway employees, met in front of the station on the island of TCDD, Turkey protested the Draft Law on the Liberalization of Railway Transport. Speaking on behalf of the group here, Cengiz Köse, Head of Turkish Transportation-Sen Adana Branch, touched upon the important work carried out by the railways in the War of Independence and said, “We have not forgotten that there were no drivers to take trains in the War of Independence because they were left in the hands of multinational companies. Köse said that the draft law will pave the way for the transfer of railways to multinational companies and said, "This draft law aims at commercialization and eliminates public services."
The group disbanded without incident after the press release.
