Journalists from Kütahya and Uşak attended the promotional organization led by Gediz District Governor İsmail Çorumluoğlu and Mayor Mehmet Ali Saraoğlu from the AK Party. After breakfast at Murat Mountain Thermal Tourism Center, the members of the press went to the ski slope established in Sarıçiçek Plateau at an altitude of 1870 meters, skied under the supervision of Dumlupınar University (DPU) Physical Education and Sports School (BESYO) instructors and got on a snowmobile.
Gediz District Governor İsmail Çorumluoğlu said that they established the facility in winter conditions in order to show that it is possible to ski on Murat Mountain. Çorumluoğlu stated that the works were going well as they had hoped and said, “We give ski training to our students 6 days a week. In addition, our incoming citizens receive ski training by having their names written to us beforehand.
The summit of Murat Mountain has an altitude of 2 thousand 340. We want to build a larger track on this summit than the one on Sarıçiçek Plateau. We have thermal water at an altitude of 1450. Our goal is to bring our visitors to the area where the thermal water is located, with their skis. This is an opportunity that is not available in Turkey, but is available in only a few places in the world. In other words, people will be able to benefit from hot water after skiing. Çorumluoğlu stated that they will build mechanical facilities on the summit and this will become an important center in the coming years.
