Minister Yıldırım 3. Evaluates the Proposals for the Airport Tender
Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yıldırım stated that 3 companies received specifications for the 16rd airport tender to be held in Istanbul and said, “This is a big project, let's not be dreamy, we do not have 8-10 expectations. Our goal is to have at least 3 solid offers, ”he said.
Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Binali Yıldırım met with members of the press at the State Airport Operations Social Facilities and answered the questions of journalists. Upon reminding a journalist that 'Turkish Airlines (THY) ranks 54th among the most reliable airlines', Minister Yıldırım said, “Are you doing the accident statistics according to the last 30 years, the last 50 years or the last 10 years? . Maybe misfortune can happen in a few years, if you base it on, it will come to a different place. It comes to a different place in a period of 40 years. Rather than ranking, it is important how the civil aviation administration approaches the issue, what kind of control mechanism is implemented, how much it complies with international criteria, ”he said.
Pointing out that in the last 5 years, inspections have been increased according to the criteria set by the European Union Civil Aviation Union, Yıldırım stated that the accidents are caused by human faults. Yıldırım stated that civil aviation has improved itself much more in parallel with this growth, still there are some deficiencies and companies still have to run foreign pilots. Yıldırım said, “We encourage flight schools in order to eliminate the lack of pilots. "Time is needed to train captain pilots."
3. COMPANIES THAT HAVE SPECIFICATION FOR AIRPORT TENDER
On a question about the names of the 3 investor groups that received the specifications for the 16rd Airport tender to be held in Istanbul, Yıldırım said, “It is a good thing that 16 companies have received specifications. This is a big project, let's not be dreamy. We do not expect 8-10 offers. Our goal is to have at least 3 solid offers. "Every bid that can be received 3 or more will be considered a success for us."
After reminding a journalist of Prime Minister Erdogan's statements regarding the capacity of the 3rd Airport, Yıldırım said, “There is no contradiction regarding the capacity of the new airport. The airport will be completed in 4 stages. 5 million capacity will be reached in the first 90 years. In the next 3 stages, that is, in 25 years, its capacity will be 150 million ”.
Minister Yıldırım said that the practical capacity of the new airport is 90-100 million passengers, and has a physical infrastructure that can grow up to 25 million passengers per year up to 150.
FILLING COST TO BE MADE ON THE FLOOR OF THE 3. AIRPORT
Regarding the cost of the filling to be made on the ground of the 3rd airport, Minister Yıldırım said, “Of course, they will carry the soil and we will show them where they will carry it. We will show you where to buy the appropriate material. It is not something that is emerging that there is a lot of earth movement. We also know that there are still those who have doubts about this issue. "We do not see excessive land movement as an obstacle to the realization of the project."
Stating that there is a period of more than two months until May 3, when the tender will be made, Minister Yıldırım stated that it is not possible to give an extension of time already. Minister Yıldırım stated that 16 out of 5 companies have requested time extensions so far.
Asked by another journalist about the public offering of THY, Minister Yıldırım said, “Supply of some or the rest of THY is under the responsibility of the Privatization Administration. "Such a thing is not on the agenda for the time being."
CLAIMS OF ARM FROM SYNDIC OPPORTUNITIES ON ATATURK AIRPORT
Regarding the allegations that weapons were transported to Syrian opponents over Atatürk Airport, Minister Yıldırım said, “We do whatever is necessary when there is a report on this issue. We've done this in the past. In case of notice, we made it to the planes going to Syria and coming from other countries. It would not be right for us to stop and inspect all planes. A thousand planes take off from Atatürk Airport a day. If we subject it to inspection in this direction, aviation will be paralyzed. Incoming reports are being evaluated, ”he said.
