The State Railways (TCDD) and the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which cooperated to bring the Aliağa-Menderes suburban line to Izmir and take action for the gulf dredging project, are shaking hands for a project that will fly Izmir, according to the news of the Yeni Asır newspaper. According to the protocol to be signed between TCDD, the Ankara-Izmir High Speed Train Line, which will enter the city from Kemalpaşa, will be delivered from the bus station to Halkapınar and from there to the Basmane Station. TCDD officials said, “Our Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Binali Yıldırım, was personally interested in this project. This project has been working on for months. It has come to an end. The protocol will be signed in the coming days ”.
As a result of the works carried out in İZBAN, which was established in partnership with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and TCDD, the suburban system started to travel from Menderes to Aliağa. In the past months, the foundation was laid for the extension of the system from Cumoovası to Torbalı. TCDD and the Metropolitan Municipality will implement the similar work done in İZBAN in the Ankara-İzmir High Speed Train project, which is under construction.
The Metropolitan Municipality and TCDD will sign a preliminary protocol for the transportation of the high-speed train from the Bus Station to the Basmane Station and to solve the transportation problem in the area known as the Food Market, and to include the Ankara-Izmir High Speed Train project in the rail public transportation system between the Bus Station and Halkapınar. According to the prepared project, the high-speed train line that will come through Kemalpaşa will be connected to the Bus Terminal. After that, the line to be taken underground will reach Halkapınar and from there to Basmane from above.
TCDD officials stated that the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Binali Yıldırım, told him about the problems of the traffic congestion experienced by the tradesmen during his visit to the Food Bazaar and said, “Our Minister gave an order to solve the problem. TCDD General Manager Süleyman Karaman was personally interested in the project. The project was worked on for months. With the high speed train entering the city, both the traffic problem in the Food Market will be solved and the citizens will be moved from the bus station to the city center ”.
Barter to be made
On the other hand, for the construction of the road that will allow the entrance and exit to the bazaar, a barter transaction will be made by giving the 20-decare land belonging to the State Railways to the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and another land of the same size to the Railways.
