Izmir Halkapınar Station starts its second renovation on Sunday
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has increased a part of the 1,85-meter steel pedestrian bridge to 7 meters at Halkapınar Station and installed an elevator with two-way escalators, will now renew the second part of the bridge towards the metro. Here, the width from 2,60 meters will be increased to 4 meters, while the three fixed stairs will be increased to six, transforming into escalators and the upper part will be closed. The project will cost 2 million 270 thousand liras. ESHOT will take temporary measures from Sunday in order not to affect transportation during the expansion works.
Metropolitan Municipality, Aliağa-Menderes Suburban System (İZBAN) and İzmir Metro, providing the integration between the Halkapınar Station, the expansion of the two pedestrian bridges that serve as a transfer between the subway and the suburban, and the transformation of fixed stairs into escalators, in order to make the transfer operations faster and to eliminate the congestion caused by the passenger density continues its work. In this context, the municipality completes the first section of the steel bridge that enables pedestrian passages from the ticket hall to the Çınarlı direction and opens the access to Çınarlı direction, and the construction works in the second part. During these works, a series of measures were taken to prevent the passengers from being victimized, as the transfer center called "Halkapınar 1", which is located in the stream part of the station, will not be accessible.
According to the temporary practice that ESHOT General Directorate will start on Sunday, February 24, 2013, the last stop of Fahrettin Altay Transfer Center-Halkapınar Metro bus number 12 was taken from Halkapınar 1 to the transfer center on the Çınarlı (sea) side called "Halkapınar 2". the frequency has been increased. In addition, the frequency of the line 1, which makes a ring service between Halkapınar 2 and Halkapınar 888, has also been increased.
