Ayaş Tunnel finally saw the light
Within the scope of Beypazaarı and Istanbul Railway project, 'Light appeared for the Ayaş Tunnel.' Beypazarı Mayor M. Cengiz Özalp stated that TCDD has prepared and implemented a new project for Ankara-Beypazarı connection of the railway network, which has an important place in the transportation and tourism of the district. Noting that there will be a station in Beypazarı, Mayor Özalp said that with the ring road project, district tourism will gain vitality.
The study of the Ankara Sincan-Arifiye Railway and the 10-kilometer Ayaş Tunnel, which never ended, started in 1943. A new project was initiated by the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Infrastructure Investments General Directorate for the Arifiye Sincan Railway project between Ankara and Istanbul, where the first fee was paid in 1976. While 22 governments and 29 transportation ministers have changed during the past period, it has been stated that 700 billion TL was spent in the studies. Beypazarı Mayor M. Cengiz Özalp stated that TCDD has prepared and implemented a new project for the Ankara-Beypazarı connection of the railway network, which has a very important place especially in transportation and tourism.
“Thus, the Beypazarı-Istanbul Railway, which has been on the drain for 30 years, will finally come true. In a shorter and safer way, our people will provide transportation on this railway between Ankara and Istanbul. There will be a station in Beypazarı, and of course it will make a great contribution to district tourism economically and socially. The ring road project will also provide great comfort in transportation.
