Ankara Istanbul high-speed train can hang at 2014
Binali Yildirim, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications said that they are aiming to complete the Ankara-Istanbul High Speed Train (YHT) project by the end of this year and to start the voyages.
Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yıldırım, who answered the oral questions of the deputies in the Assembly, said:
Or Within the scope of Ankara-Istanbul High Speed Train Project, you know, Ankara-Eskişehir part has been opened and has been working since 2009. Work continues in Eskişehir-İstanbul. We aim to complete these works by the end of this year and to start high-speed train services between Ankara and Istanbul. The sale of promotional tickets on high-speed train lines opened to service will continue in the same way as in Konya and Eskişehir. Total amount of Ankara-Istanbul High Speed Train Project is 2013 billion dollars or 4 billion TL according to unit prices of 7,2.
NEW LINES TO BE MADE
As it is known, Ankara Train Station is the starting point of Ankara-Istanbul, Ankara-Izmir, Ankara-Sivas, Ankara-Kayseri, Ankara-Bursa high-speed train lines. In order for Ankara to serve passenger and train traffic that will increase with the introduction of these high-speed train lines, due to the construction of new lines between Kayaş-Sincan, the removal of the existing level crossings and the transformation into the lower-upper passage, the infrastructure has been closed to traffic and the suburban flights have been temporarily stopped. After these studies are completed, the suburban lines between Kayaş and Sincan will be re-commissioned to serve more comfortably and more safely.
