Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek, announced the cancellation of the bridge and highway tender.
Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek stated that the privatization tender was canceled by the evaluation and decision taken by the Privatization High Council (ÖYK) and the method of granting the operating rights of bridges and highways.
The Koç-Ülker-UEM partnership was awarded the 1975 billion dollar grant for the privatization tender covering the eight motorways and the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges with a total length of 5.7 kilometers.
11 BRIDGE CAN BE BUILT WITH BOX GAIN
The Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges, where the government sells tribute auctions, earned 12 times the cost of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge in 11 years. The number of vehicles passing through bridges and highways with a total length of 1975 kilometers in 12 years has increased by 92 percent and the revenue generated has increased by 166 percent.
