Marmaray Project is an important project and less than a year to complete. The History of the Marmaray Project, known as the project of the century: The idea about a railway tunnel that will pass under the Bosphorus was first put forward in 1860.

The tunnel was planned as a tunnel placed on the columns built on the seabed.

Such ideas and ideas were further evaluated in the following 20-30 year-round and a design was developed in 1902.

In this design, a railway tunnel passing under the Bosphorus is envisaged, but in this design, a tunnel placed on the seabed is mentioned.

Since then, many different ideas and ideas have been tried and new technologies have evolved into design.
In the early 1980s, the desire to build a public transport link between the east and west in Istanbul and under the Bosphorus increased, and as a result, the first comprehensive feasibility study was conducted and reported in 1987.

As a result of this study, the route determined in the project today was chosen as the best among a number of routes.
The project, which was outlined in 1987, was discussed in the years that followed, and in 1995 it was decided to carry out more detailed studies and studies and to update feasibility studies, including passenger demand forecasts in 1987.

In the 1999 Turkey and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) signed a financing agreement between.
This loan agreement was the basis for the project's funding for the Istanbul Bosphorus Crossing.

This loan agreement also includes the procurement of an international group of consultants to be selected through competitive bidding. Avrasya consult, the chosen consultant, prepared the tender documents for the project in March 2002.
The tenders were open to international and national contractors and / or joint ventures.

For this contract, a second loan agreement was signed with JICA in 2006.

In addition, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the 2004 have signed loan agreements for the financing of the Railway Vehicles (CR2006) in 1 in 2006 in order to finance the financing agreements of important parts of the project.

With the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), loan agreements were signed for the financing of the CR2008 contract in 1 and in the 2010 for the financing of the CR2 contract.

Contract CR1 Commuter Lines Improvement and Electro-Mechanical Systems job was tendered in 2006 (Prequalification supplement 2004), the contract was signed in March 2007 with the joint venture, which started in June 2007, and was terminated in July 2010.

The ICC Arbitration process, which started with the termination process and the application of the contractor, continues. The re-tender process of the work under the name of Contract CR3 started with the publication of the International Tender announcement in July 2010, and technical offers will be opened in January 2011.
