The fire that broke out yesterday at the historical Galatasaray University, which has a 142-year history, brought to mind the historical artifacts that burned in a similar way.
HISTORICAL SCHOOL WAS A HOTEL
Most of these burning historical artifacts later became either parking, either restaurant or hotel. The first one that comes to mind is the burning of Gaziosmanpasa Primary School in the same year.
10 years ago fire broke out in the Gaziosmanpaşa Primary School in Ortaköy and the roof and some of the walls of the 100 annual historical building were partially collapsed. The garden of the school, right next to the entertainment areas, was used as a car park immediately after the fire. Later, they were told that a hotel would be made on the land, but these allegations were denied. However, despite all the denials, the burning school is now rising in a hotel.
WILL THE PROVINCIAL NATIONAL EDUCATION DIRECTORATE BE A HOTEL?
Another fire engraved in memory was the fire at the Provincial Directorate of National Education. The historical building, located in a touristic place in Cağaloğlu, burned for an unknown reason. While the burning date of the burning building is not officially announced, the environmental shopkeepers claim that the hotel will be built instead of the historic building.
YANAN HAYDARPAŞA GARI PASSES
Another historical building with the same fate as the Gaziosmanpaşa Primary School was the Haydarpaşa Station. Two years ago, the neglects of the fire was discussed for days. The roof of the building burned completely after the fire, and damage occurred on the upper floors.
What made the fire in Haydarpaşa Station interesting was the skyscraper project to Haydarpaşa Station, which was launched before it burns. This project was discussed in public for a long time and it was explained by the most authoritative parties that such a project would not be realized. However, immediately after these discussions, a fire broke out in Haydarpaşa Station. After the fire, the Haydarpaşa Port project came to the agenda and the project is about to be implemented now.

The fire at Galatasaray University in Ortaköy, Istanbul, came out due to an unclear reason like the others. The fire that broke out at 19.30 lasted exactly 5 hours and the historical building became almost ash.
The fate of the building, where a history has disappeared, is not clear for now, but the examples that have taken place show that Galatasaray University's fate will be just like any other.
