TCDD General Manager Süleyman Karaman came to the city to examine the preparations for the foundation laying ceremony of the Afyonkarahisar leg of the Ankara-İzmir high-speed train line. Visiting Governor İrfan Balkanlıoğlu in his office, Karaman said that they carried out important projects in the field of high speed trains. Noting that the high speed train line works started between Ankara and Istanbul, Karaman said, “There is currently service between Ankara and Eskişehir. The line between Eskişehir and Istanbul will end at the end of 2013. We laid the foundation in Bursa. The tender for the Ankara-Izmir high-speed train line was made. In addition, the tender for the Ankara-Afyonkarahisar line was also completed and the work started. "We will hold an official groundbreaking ceremony in January."
