Metro is coming to Metrobus line
When 400 thousand people used the 800 thousand passenger-capacity metrobus in Istanbul, the municipality pressed the button in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport to build a metro on the same road.
Between Beylikdüzü and Söğütlüçeşme, the excessive density that has been continuing for a while on the metrobus, which serves hundreds of thousands of Istanbul residents every day, gives the citizens a hard time. Especially in the morning and evening hours, big crowds occur in metrobuses and stops. Kadir Topbaş, Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, made a statement at the Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) about the problems experienced due to snow, and also mentioned the accumulation in the metrobus. Topbaş said, “This problem can only be overcome with the development of metro lines” and said “Metrobus line exceeded the capacity. We have the idea of converting it to a subway line. In order for the metrobus to be very healthy, it must be wide. It should have two lanes. Here, we are carrying 800 thousand people where there is serious trouble in difficult conditions. While its capacity should not exceed 400 thousand ... Even a small accident stops the whole system. "It is only possible to get rid of this problem with the development of metro lines."
Yeni Şafak has reached the details about the metro project announced by Mayor Topbaş. Accordingly, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality started to work in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport. The metro project is planned to be between Zincirlikuyu-Beylikdüzü TÜYAP, which is the metrobus line on the European side of Istanbul. On the 39-kilometer-long Beylikdüzü-Zincirlikuyu line, there are currently 36 stations on the metrobus line. An average of more than 500 thousand passengers per day are carried along the line. After the extension of the line from Avcılar to Beylikdüzü, there is a great problem especially during the 'peak' hours due to the increasing passenger density. It is stated that the intensity will decrease and transportation will be faster with the activation of the metro on Zincirlikuyu-Beylikdüzü line.
