Mars Logistics Invested 27 Million Euros for Intermodal Transportation

Mars Logistics launched the new “Intermodal Transport” with an investment of 500 trailers. With an investment of 27 million euros, Mars Logistics started the rail transport by trailers between the city of Trieste in Italy and the cities of Bettembourg in Luxembourg. Through the first time that occurred in September goods coming by sea from Turkey to Trieste, Italy, Luxembourg will reach the railway. Thanks to this new service of Mars, at least 13 billion grams of carbon dioxide emissions per year will be prevented. With this nature-friendly investment, every trailer from the starting point to the final destination will travel more than 2 kilometers.

Depart three times a week - trains between Bettembourg Trieste who will make the return journey, the trailer is loaded to carry the goods taken from various places in Turkey. Trailers will arrive by train after reaching Trieste by ship from Istanbul, Izmir and Mersin ports, and after passing through the Bettembourg Multimodal terminal, they will reach various destinations in Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, England, France and Germany.

Making a statement on the subject, Mars Logistics Assistant General Manager Ali Tulgar said that with this new route, they achieved a 75 percent reduction in carbon emissions compared to road solutions. Stating that they aim to achieve a more livable world, Mars also achieved sustainable development goals with this investment. He noted that they planned to move 10 thousand trailers by working in connection with the ports of Istanbul, Izmir and Mersin in the first year with this new intermodal network, which they set off with the slogan 'Optimum duration, maximum environmentalism'.
