Haliç Metro Crossing Bridge was the new skyline of Istanbul

The silhouette of the Golden Horn, the pearl of Istanbul, and the historical peninsula is being redrawn. The construction of the Haliç Metro Pass Bridge, which is one of the important points of the Istanbul metro, continues to work. After the installation of the feet, the installation of the tables was started. The bridge is expected to arrive at the testing stage in October 2013.
Istanbul faces many problems from transportation to the environment, from the need for housing to the intensity of internal migration. With a population of over 13 million, one of the most beautiful places of Istanbul, which surpasses 21 countries of Europe, the historical peninsula adorns the works of poets, painters and photographers with its centuries-old historical silhouette. It is impossible for those who visit Istanbul not to be captivated by any view from Sarayburnu to Eyüp.
It is impossible to describe the moments when the sun starts to sink in this magnificent spot where the Bosphorus meets the Golden Horn. The skyline of the Golden Horn, the pearl of Istanbul, is reshaping with bridges in the region. The construction of the Haliç Metro Crossing Bridge, which is one of the most important crossing points of the Istanbul metro, continues in a feverish manner. With the completion of the installation of the legs, the installation of the decks was started. Studies are continuing in Unkapanı and Azapkapı viaducts. It is possible to see dozens of workers on the giant iron blocks every day until 17.30. There is silence in Şişhane where the connection tunnels of the bridge are located. Some of the chandeliers have closed their shops after the studies started; however, new places also open. Ümit Katırcı, who opens a new cafe with a view of Süleymaniye and Haliç, is looking forward to the end of the works. The bridge is scheduled to be completed in October 2012.
Haliç Metro Crossing Bridge, which is a part of Taksim-Yenikapı metro line, which was started to be built by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 1998, started to come to light. As of January 2012, 5 carrier feet were built and placed with millimeter calculations. A special crane was brought for the erection of bridge piers with a weight varying between 380 and 450 tons manufactured in Yalova. The crane, which has a carrying capacity of 800 tons, will be disassembled after the assembly of the deck. Every day, dozens of workers are busy building the bridge. The assembly works of the deck and the construction of the viaducts that will connect the bridge to the tunnels continue.
Taksim-Şişhane-Unkapanı-Şehzadebaşı-Yenikapı Subway Pass, which is an important part of the Haliç metro crossing the skirts of Şişhane Azapkapı to the surface of the bridge after passing through the Golden Horn. The length of the ongoing bridge over sea will be 460 m. With the Unkapanı and Azapkapı viaducts, the bridge will reach the length of the 936 m.
The projects related to the bridge were approved by the Conservation Board on 6 July 2005. Since its approval, it has been the subject of controversy due to its impact on the historical peninsula silhouette. The height of the carrier towers on the bridge, which was designed as a suspended system, was 82 meters in the first project. However, the height has been reduced several times after UNESCO's warnings that it will be removed from Istanbul's World Heritage List and added to the “at-risk world heritage list”. Upon the Conservation Board's failure to accept this height, the tower heights were first reduced to 65 meters and then to 50 meters and the application was started in this way. Bridge and Istanbul metro will reach Yenikapı Transfer Station without interruption. Transfer to Marmaray and Aksaray-Airport light metro line will be provided in Yenikapı. The bridge, which will be used by 1 million passengers a day, is planned to come to the testing stage in October 2013. Passengers getting on the metro from Hacıosman will reach the Yenikapı transfer station without interruption. Here with the Marmaray link, Kadıköy-Kartal, Aksaray-Airport or Bağcılar-Olimpiyatköyü- will be able to reach Başakşehir in a short time.
